Charles Cornell House Fire Calcutta
Read MoreChuck Cornell of Valley Drive in Calcutta emerged from his shower Tuesday to find his house full of smoke and on fire. Racing two doors down to his parent's home he called the fire department and returned home to find the house engulfed as St. Clair Township, Liverpool Township and Glenmoor firefighters arrived in force to knock down the fire. Calcutta Fire Chief Scott Smith said the fire appeared to start in the garage and was thought to be caused by a battery charger attached to their BMW. Smith said the cause is still under investigation. He said the remainder of the house suffered severe heat, smoke and water damage. Cornell's wife, Sherri was at work in Midland, Pa., at the time of the fire and his 12- and 16-year-old sons were in school.Morning Journal/Patti Schaeffer
