The fifth-graders at Mckinley Elementary in Lisbon were flying high as they learned how the scientific process they studied in class is applied by Southwest Airlines pilot Leonard Diludovico of Lisbon in his everyday life. A four-week program called Adopt-A-Pilot came into their classroom, and they learned about flight. The students developed
hypotheses, then performed experiments to see how
they held up. This week’s lesson centered around Daniel Bernoulli’s Principle: a slower moving fluid will exert more pressure than faster moving fluids. Morning Journal/Patti Schaeffer
