Eaglets take flight
The pair of baby eaglets born to the couple that occupies the nest on Lipply Road are starting to fly sitting on branches above their nest and according to people who watch them daily one of the eaglets was away from the nest for a complete day. The parents are also reportedly only dropping food off once a day and disappearing from the nest. The immature bald eagles will stay the dominant brown color until they around the age of four or five when they become adults and reach sexual maturity. Male and female bald eagles are identical in their plumage but the female is usually about 25 percent larger than its male counterpart. Morning Journal/Patti Schaeffer
